Quote, Un-Quote

My favorite quote since the age of about 12 is really a very short poem, by the amazing Shel Silverstein:

Listen to the mustn'ts, child. Listen to the don'ts.
Listen to the shouldn'ts, the impossibles, the won'ts.
Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me...
Anything can happen, child. Anything can be.

  4. I so love Shel Silverstein!! When I was younger my very favorite poem was Lazy Jane.

"Lazy lazy lazy lazy lazy lazy Jane. She wants a drink of water so she waits and waits and waits and waits and waits for it to rain." Looking back perhaps it was some sort of lesson in patience from that young age. Or a vision of what was to come (lots of lying around on my back??)
