Here's to a Change in the Weather

I think Fall is gearing up to give way to Winter here. I love Fall - it's my absolute favorite time of year. The colors, the cooler temperatures, the wardrobe options, the distant promise of the Holiday Season.

It's a time of transition. Our second opinion is scheduled for 11.9.10, so I put on my Big Girl Pants and called my RE to request my records be transferred. I talked to my favorite desk girl, and told her what I needed and why. I told her I didn't want my RE to take it the wrong way, but we feel that it's only wise to hear it from two separate clinics before we go further into debt to move on to uninsured IVF treatments. You just don't drop that kind of cash without being certain that it is the best plan. She was very understanding and very helpful. She even called to let me know when the records had been sent.

That's about all the news I've got from this week. I've been feeling like I don't have much to say and feeling bad for not being more supportive of you all. I go through these stretches sometimes when the words just aren't there. I'm still reading my Twitter feed and I'm caught up on my blog reader. My heart hurts for you all, but I don't really know what to say. So many of you have had bad news and mishaps this last week. It's like there's a black cloud hovering over my IF crew, and we're all waiting for a change in the wind.

More waiting.

  1. It's good your RE's office are being supportive. Hopefully the 2nd opinion will help with your decision. Don't feel bad about not having the words right now, we've all been there - let's just hope the change of season brings a positive change for all the IF crew.

  2. I hope that your second opinion goes well. I see nothing wrong with getting a second opinion and I think what you said to the woman at your other office was just fine.

  3. I felt guilty when I asked for my records in order to get a second opinon, but whatever. You are so right. A second opinon can hopefully give you piece of mind before you move forward. Good luck. You are in my thoughts.

  4. I felt bad when I changed clinics, and was really nervous about calling and asking for a copy of my records. I think, particularly as most staff at most clinics are so kind and caring, and we see them at a time when we really need that emotional support, we end up feeling as though they're as emotionally invested in our success as we are. But of course, in reality this is their job, and they see people move on and decide to get second opinions or change clinics every day.

I hope your second opinion gives you peace of mind and helps you to decide what you need to do next. x

  7. You're so smart to get that second opinion - if only for peace of mind. And I'm glad that your RE is being supportive!

  8. The second opinion is a good idea. Glad your current RE was cool about sending over the records. I hear you about those stretches where the words kind of fail you.

Good luck with the appointment! I can't wait to hear what they say.
