On Your Mark... (UPDATED)

Thursday was CD1, so I called the RE to check on my calendar and confirm my protocol for the IVF Do-Over. Turns out, when the IVF team had their planning meeting for the next round, they decided to change my plan a little.

No BCP. No Lupron. No suppression at all.

They decided that since there was sufficient possibility that the BCP contributed to my complete and utter lack of response last time and since my cycles are so quaintly regular, that they would not risk repeating the previous failure. This means that on my September CD1, I will have completed my three month course of DHEA (to boost ovarian response and egg quality) and will go straight to stims unsuppressed.

This should be interesting.

UPDATE: I suppose I should have mentioned, they are going to stick with my original IVF protocol (minus the BCP suppression), adding Ganirelix near the end to suppress the LH surge and keep the follicles from popping off on their own.

  1. Wishing you all the best with your cycle, I hope the DHEA provides a magic touch.

  2. BCP's are evil. I count this as good news! :-)

  4. Unsuppressed? That's more like a IUI cycle. Are they going to use anything to make sure the eggs mature evenly?

  6. I know I've been MIA but I wanted to stop by and wish you luck. I hope this cycle is the one and that the lack of suppression is the answer!!

  9. I'm new to your blog! I have had very similar issues with IVF so far. My first 3 attempts at IVF were cancelled due to poor response. It all started with BCP over supressing me. THen I had a cyst that wouldn't go away, then my hormones weren't cooperating. I had no idea so much came into play when trying to do IVF. For my first completed IVF cycle back in May, I jumped right to stimming and it worked, sort of. I had 2 large follies and 3 small ones. No matter what we try my follies are never on the same page. Frustrating!! I wish you best of luck this cycle!!

  10. Hope that this new plan works out. It can be scary when plans change but it's also comforting to think of your doctor conferring with other doctors.... a great Think Tank, all aimed at getting you pregnant :)
Thanks for coming by my blog, loved your comments!

I wish your blogspot would let me click "send me any new replies or comments". Silly internet.

  11. Kinda getting excited for you girl!! I like that the Drs are catering this cycle to fit you. It makes all the difference in the world when a Dr can pay attention to your case when your body throws them and you for a loop. I am one of those cases too that required a little TLC... we shall see if the Drs got it right this time!

    CD1... bring it!

    xo
